We are co-hosting the 15th Annual "Latino Engineering Day" at the Exploratorium! Latino Engineering Day/Día de la Ingeniería, combines panel discussions, presentations on the science and engineering heritage of Latinos, and playful activities such as making scribbling machines. This annual, drop-in program is conducted primarily in Spanish and provides opportunities to meet with prominent engineers in the Latino community.
Hensel Phelps is one of the largest general contractors and construction managers in the US. In Northern California, Hensel Phelps’ latest challenge is the renovation of the SFO – Terminal 1, without shutting down airport operations. The $1.2 billion project includes demolishing the existing terminal, erecting of a new structural, shell and core, a new centralized security checkpoint and a new baggage handling system over the course of 5 years.
*The tour includes a meet and greet with Hensel Phelps staff, a presentation on the scope of the project, and a walking tour of the construction site.*

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Silicon Valley (SHPE-SV) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers San Francisco (SHPE-SFBA) have partnered with Nerdwallet for a Tech Talk on Mobile development on Tuesday June 27th.
Please join us to hear from the Nerdwallet engineering and product teams about their Mobile development process. The Nerdwallet diversity group and recruiting team will also be present to network with us.

We will be having our SHPE SFBA End of the Year BBQ this Saturday at San Leandro Marina Park. We will be located by the volleyball court, please join us.
It will be potluck style with SHPE-SFBA providing a couple of main dishes to be accompanied by your delicious appetizers and desserts. Please fill out the Google sheet below to register and indicate what food item you will be bringing, the intent is that we all bring something different. We would like a headcount by Friday, June 23.
SHPE members will be able to join for free, and there will be a small fee of $5 for non-members. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the event.
We would like to invite you to our next general meeting. It will be this coming Thursday May 25th at the Google office in San Francisco. We will allow time for people running for board positions to give their speech on their qualifications. We will be providing drinks and snacks. Hope we can see you there!

The SHPE San Francisco Bay Area Professional Chapter invites you to partake in our annual community outreach event, Dia de Ciencias.
This year we will be hosting our Dia de Ciencias at The DeLue Boys & Girls Club. Where we are expecting over 100 students and parents to be in attendance.
That being said, we are also in need of volunteers to make this day as successful as the years past. Whether you have participated in a past or this could be your first time, we assure you this will be a wonderful experience.
